Fostering UNITY is committed to placement stability and improved outcomes for children and youth through Purposeful Placements.
Purposeful Placements intentionally match the needs of children/youth in foster care with the family best suited to provide an environment to heal and grow.
Purposeful Placements can be found in our supportive Facebook Group.
Unifying Birth Families and Caregivers to Improve the Lives of Children
For a child who is part of the dependency system with an active reunification plan, there are two families to negotiate. The family that they are currently placed with and the family they are intended to reunite with. In most cases, the family of origin, the birth family, and the family that they are placed with, and the resource family, are not given the opportunity or support necessary to work together for a successful reunification process that is child-centered.
The Shared Parenting Project brings both families together to provide trauma-informed reunification support, strengths-based parent training, and in-home parent coaching intended to support reunification and offer the child an extended support system.
Our family-centered events include the Easter EGGstravaganza, Fall on the Farm Pumpkin Patch, and the Winter Wonderland. These events foster creativity, blossoming friendships, and new experiences that lead to cherished memories.
Donation centers are set up at each event to help provide food, diapers, clothes, and a variety of other supplies to help support Resource Families.
Fostering UNITY encourages participation in these events so that both families and children feel the support of the community and can strengthen relationships and friendships. Success and love come from UNITY. To volunteer, donate or support our memorable events, please contact Dayna Freier, Director of Operations, at dayna@fosteringunity.org or (213) 434-0069
